Our follow-up session on June 26 focused on the concept of educators as reflective practitioners. We introduced the reflective cycle and the “5 Whys” technique as tools to enhance educators’ reflective practices, ultimately supporting children’s social emotional development and resilience.

Reflective Practitioners and the Reflective Cycle: The reflective cycle—comprising “What, So What, and What Now”—serves as a framework for educators to reflect on their experiences and interactions with children. By systematically analyzing what happened, the significance of the event, and the next steps, educators can continuously improve their practices.
Using the “5 Whys” Technique: The “5 Whys” technique helps educators dig deeper into challenging situations by repeatedly asking “why” to uncover the root causes. This method promotes a thorough understanding of children’s behaviors and needs, leading to more effective strategies for fostering their resilience.

 Conclusion

Together, these sessions underscore the vital role of educators in shaping the social and emotional resilience of young children. By being thoughtful planners, responsive facilitators, and reflective practitioners, educators can create a nurturing environment that supports children’s holistic development and prepares them to face future challenges with strength and confidence.
