Prime Times: Handbook for Excellence in Infant and Toddler Programs

This important text uses the term Prime Times to signify the critical importance of one to one interactions in a child's life in a program. Caring times are Prime Times. The famaliar complaint of some caregivers that most of the day is spent in looking after children rather than pursuing an educational program fails to recognise that those caring times are the prime teaching times: the times when a child has his or her caregiver alone and learns through responsive care that 'I am somebody, I am important.'
