International Consultancy Projects

Through our involvement in the community projects, the role of the early childhood educator has been extended beyond the four walls of the classroom. For early childhood teachers who are ready to take on an added role, the Association has provided them with an added role of being the community educator. This role of the community educator has also gone beyond the shores of Singapore as well into Vietnam, Cambodia Indonesia and China through the Association’s International Consultancy Projects.

  • Vietnam
Under the auspices of the Singapore International Foundation, a team from AECES was formed to assist in the training & professional development of early childhood educators in Hanoi, Vietnam. The goal of this project was capacity building of their early childhood policy makers, lecturers/trainers, managers and preschool teachers. A series of five workshops, each lasting a week, was conducted at the National College for Education’s Early Childhood Education Faculty in Hanoi, Vietnam. The interactive training workshops sought to enhance and update their skills and knowledge in early childhood education practices, professional training and development.
  • Indonesia
Since 2005 the Association has been providing assistance in starting up a school and resource centre for children with autism. This school is funded by the local community and known to the community as Indo CARE which stands for Indonesia Center for Autism, Resource and Expertise. Located in Kapuk, North Jakarta, it started opening its doors to children in 2007 and is today also a training center for educators to work with children with autism.
  • Qing Dao, China
AECES has had a long-standing exchange programme with Qingdao Teacher Training College. We have invited lecturers from the college to conduct workshops in Singapore and to participate in study trips. Similarly, our Singapore Chinese teachers attended workshops at the Teacher Training College. In addition, the Association conducted a five day workshop on teaching English to young children.
