Diploma in Pre-School Education - Leadership (DPE-L) (ENGLISH)

The Conceptual Framework

The Diploma in Pre-School Education – Leadership (DPE-L) takes a learner centred approach in which learners, as leaders, are at the core of the conceptual framework. This approach is adopted to inculcate a learning perspective among the leaders in early childhood settings. Leaders will be encouraged to view themselves as both learners and leaders; they learn to create; build and nurture the culture of learning that is based on the learner-centred principles of learning.

This leadership programme will engage learners in reflective practice and dialogue on topics presented in the model below.  Learners as leaders develop philosophies that guide practices.  Leaders address needs concerning curriculum and the learning environment; staff and family development; current issues and change; as well as management and administrative matters. They exercise their leadership within the constraints of legislation and management demands. However, they are also supported with community resources which can help them overcome their challenges.
